The story however will certainly play a role in keeping you immersed in the game. Your character is not a superhero and will be vulnerable. If you're journeying in a desert, we want you to feel the heat and be aware of your water supply. It's about survival, hardship, adventure and everything in between. The game is built with the purpose of giving the player a complete atmospheric experience.
There is a story but the story does not govern gameplay. John: We would have to say more gameplay. TR : Is Little Devil Inside more gameplay or story focused? We do think though that an art style is just a style as opposed to a concept and hope a mega sandbox game in pixelart comes out sometime in the future - GTA in pixelart? that'll be interesting! We believe pixelart is definitely a style that triggers the player's imagination and it's great to see Indie developers select this style. John: As mentioned, our focus wasn't actually all on "uniqueness" but what we are trying to create as a whole - being the "nostalgic essence". What made you decide to go for something so unique? What are your thoughts on the pixelart style which so many indies go for these days? TR : One of the standout points of Little Devil Inside is the art style. Although the funds raised through a successful campaign is important to us, we believe we have gained plenty already that will certainly urge us to continue and complete what we have started regardless of the result. We have learnt a lot so far and understand our audience much better. We are still in the learning process especially in the field of communicating with the community. Many have responded on the uniqueness of the visual style so this was reassuring. The result? Although our Kickstarter campaign is still running, the game raised a lot of unexpected attention. It was this same reason why we made an early submission to Steam Greenlight. John: One of the main reasons why we decided on crowdfunding was to gain an idea of how the gaming audience would react to what we are trying to create. TR : How has crowdfunding effected the way you are developing Little Devil Inside?
Each of these games we felt had its own unique element of inspiration. There are however, games that have certainly influenced Little Devil Inside in terms of game design and mechanics such as Betrayal at Krondor, X-com series, Legend of Zelda, System Shock. Directly or not, we believe other media such as film, print, art & design in general have all been inspirations.

I don’t often give games a thumbs up anymore, but I feel I have to for a game as charming as this. We have yet to see how all this will play out in an actual game, but there is definitely enough here to garner attention for a Steam Greenlight vote.

Basically we want to provide as many ways as possible to skin a cat! We wish to put our efforts and focus on all the means to an end where sometimes spawning off and attending to events and mini missions may mean momentarily losing track of your main mission. The cartoony graphics, especially the half-corpses its enemies leave behind, should also be a pleasant escape from the fantasy tropes found in similarly open-ended games.Īlthough there will be a main plot, we don’t necessarily intend this to be the end in itself. Missions and quests will populate different areas, but the main allure seems to be uncovering everything that its colorful cast of characters can find.

The developers on the Greenlight page describe it as “a truly engaging 3D action adventure RPG game where you are thrown into a surreal but somewhat familiar setting with men, creatures and monsters to interact with, learn and hunt – survive and discover the world that exists beyond.” Our nameless hero miniguns the Krakan and slices up goblins on a beach with all the charm of Tearaway or any other of your lighthearted favorites. Little Devil Inside is picking up a presence around the net thanks to its brilliant visuals and grand sense of adventure. Steam Greenlight has a new crowd-favorite that has been turning quite a few heads.
